Yadira Escobar is the leading person in this non-profit, 100% volunteer-based group.

These incredibly brave women travel by foot, taxi, or public bus to help, rescue, medicate, and save animals.  (Yes, in Mexico, there are some taxis and buses that allow you to travel with animals)

The primary focus of this team is to help local towns control the stray population by offering occasional minimal cost spay/neuter campaigns, as well as trap, medicate and help feral animals from mange and other contagious, detrimental diseases.

They try their best to help every dog they see in need if possible.  It's highly ambitious, yet VEPA has proven to have success in various aspects of dog rescue, and pet healthcare, all with nothing other than passion and trust.

In some (not all) cases, they will pull dogs who have amazing potential to be homed and take various steps to adopt---that's also where Teresa and Maura come in!

VEPA provides temporary housing using a borrowed empty property lot, they then medicate, feed, train and raise these pets for the adoption process.
